What makes it a street legal golf cart?
Street legal golf carts have quickly become very popular in and around suburbs and rural housing developments. Also known as low speed vehicles and neighborhood electric vehicles, most street legal carts are defined by the following criteria:
- Street legal golf carts can have a top speed 25 miles per hour
- Each street legal golf cart must have the following safety features
- Head lights, tail lights, brake lights, turn lights and night reflectors on the sides, front and rear end of the vehicle
- A three point seat belt, Internal and exterior mirrors on the driver and passenger side, a windshield, parking breaks and vehicle identification number
Following certain restrictions, neighborhood carts can operate on public roads with a speed limit of 35 miles per hour, but are limited to top speed of 25 miles per hour. While street legal golf carts are best used for short trips in your neighborhood, fully charged cart has an approximate driving range of up to 60 miles. Recharging can take anywhere from 2 - 8 hours to complete depending on use and voltage connections.
